Hip Hop And Hype interviews Youth Soul Love! @YouthSoulLove

What’s going on Youth Soul Love, please introduce yourself and tell us where you’re from?
Yo, what up, My name is Youth Soul Love, I’m a Hip Hop Soul Artist/Entrepreneur from Houston, Texas.

Who or what was your inspiration to become a music artist?
My inspiration growing up was Michael Jackson; from Music to fashion, His sounds, visuals & movies. He inspired me as to become an artist.

For those who may not have heard your music, how would you describe it?
I would describe my music as very powerful, unique and uplifting. I really strive to be the best songwriter, so my lyrics carry a lot of substance. I’m also a visual artist, so I work really hard to put out the best videos and art to bring my music to life. My sound is a mixture of southern hip hop music with influences from different genres like: soul, rock n roll, & RnB.

Tell us about your new single ‘Dreams’.
Dreams is a song I wrote when I was locked up. I didn’t have a radio, instrumentals or a beat at all. All I had was a pen and pad. I was in a very low point in my life and all I was thinking about was writing a song that would change my life. Growing up in Houston, Texas, listening to music; hip hop being one of my favorite genres. I was really inspired by some of the hip hop influencers in the city, but to me Roc-a-Fella changed the whole game. I wanted to write a story that would put me in that era, in that point in time because I felt that I was so good that I should been signed to Roc-a-Fella.

What’s the music scene like in your city for independent artists?
I think the music scene in my city is doing wonderful, I feel like myself and others are leading and carrying the torch for a new wave in music that you guys will hear in the near future.

How did you come up with your name?
Growing up people used to call me young stet/ young stetson Leon, so the name YSL always stuck to me. YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) was also one of my favorite designers, he inspired me to go to college for fashion design. As I grew older I wanted to turn that name into something that was universal and something that I could trade mark but also keep positive & represent myself. I took the young and turned it into youth because I always wanted to do it and inspire the youth. The soul came from always wanting to put my heart and soul into everything that I do, and love; well, god is love.

What’s next for Youth Soul Love?
Im about to take over the game. More music, more visuals, more shows. I really have goals that I want to accomplish as an artist, I want to achieve different accolades as far as awards, Grammy’s, etc. I wanna travel around the world and perform over seas, keeping Houston the map for the next 20 years in music.
