Hip Hop and Hype’s exclusive interview with artist Extraordinaire!

What’s going on Extraordinaire? Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us where you’re from.
What’s going on my name is Extraordinaire and I am producer and rapper from Chattanooga Tennessee and part of the group of New Southern Order , N.S.O. for short. You might have heard us on the DJ Jelly Stamp OF Approval mixtape we did with him a few years ago. My first project as a solo artist was “Bread and Butter” with DJ Wally Sparks

Tell us the origin behind your name.
The cool answer is that my crew coming up gave it to me b/c I was good at making beats and rapping, as well as dabbled in acting and graphics. But I think the truth was it rhymed with my government name. I had a few other names and I would go by Walter Lee, my first and middle name some as well, but Extraordinaire just stuck.

What was life like growing up in your city?
You know quiet is kept a lot of artist had to come through Chatt to break in the game so we got to benefit from that. We had a very diverse music scene as well that pulled from everywhere and support from radio and music venues. Then people like DJ Wally Sparks are from here so and too many producers and behind the scenes to name.

What made you decide music was your passion?
My father was from Atlanta and used to tell me how he used to sing and all that. Then I would be down visiting for the summer breaks and get to be around listening and watching the ATL scene grow. I am back home and met my rap partner B-Lo MF Brown and finding somebody who was about the music inspired me. He was a few years older so at first I was his hype man, then got to producing and then we became rap partners in a group Black Folk Inc. It fell into place after that.

Tell us about the single you are currently pushing and where it’s available.
“Get Fresh” and is one of my latest singles that has been doing well for me. I followed that up with “Been On” as a buzz cut.I’m just talking shit on those. My song and video for “On Everything” featuring OG Wileout and Lil Wyte is fun party song. They are streaming on all digital outlets including Spotify, and Apple Music

What else can we catch you doing besides Music?
Somewhere binging somebody’s Netflix. When I am on the road I like to try some recommended eateries in the city so people reading this if you know I am coming through don’t be scared to put me on to the spots!

What’s next for you?
Working on remix project of some of my singles. Also looking to finishing some collaboration projects with Bubba Sparxxx , Reggie Long who was in Warren G. produced R&B group Reel Tight, and a hip hop project produced by Circa 94 Beats under my alter ego Walter Lee.Then I plan on hitting you with singles on between time.
