Whadapm! My name is Casso Laster, please say the LASTER!
Tell us the origin behind your name?
Well I’ve been an artists doing visionary my entire life. The name Casso was given to me by a classmate in middle school and it eventually carried into the streets and then music. I use my LAST name always to pay homage to the Lasters that came before me and to leave a Legacy for the ones who will come after me.
What was life like growing up in your city?
Well I was born and raised in Rockford Illinois. Growing up in my city honestly made me everything I am and aspire to be. Drugs , Crime and violence is a part of life for most children from my area. Making it out in terms of lifestyle and giving back has always been the motivation.
What made you decide music was your passion?
I’ve always loved music but being able to tell bits and pieces of our story is what made me most passionate about it. The actual act of creating music That has a lasting effect on people is probably the best feeling I’ve ever had.
Tell us about the single you are currently pushing and where it’s available.
The Single is “Money Calling” featuring Do$e Gabbana and produced by Trapman Two Three. The record is about Self motivation and what it takes to get up everyday and grind for what u want. Nobody is gonna hold your hand or push you to the money u gotta hear it calling you. The make a decision to get out here and get it. OMS
What else can we catch you doing besides Music?
Well I do a lot (laughs). I cut and style hair, I’m a tattoo artist, I paint tailor and customize clothing. U can see some of that work on my customs IG: @cassolaster.splash so I spend a lot of time working. I own an art Studio in my home town where we provide everything from hairstyling , tattoos and custom clothing. I love to do anything that deals with creativity. I like to bring art to life. I also own a marketing and consulting firm which is Casso Laster Enterprises LLC. In which I teach other artist like my self to become entrepreneurs. That’s also pretty much the mission of my business location in Rockford “WestSide Hair & Art Studio”
What’s next for you?
I’m looking to attack 1rst quarter of 2020 hard, dropping more timeless music, releasing videos, and hitting up my second homes like Atlanta, Houston, and Miami. Getting back on the concrete with promo , marketing and of course dope music. It’s back to the basics for me.
